Throughout this semester of ceramics I really tried to find what the most important step to making a project was. I really realized that the most essential element was stucture. The structure of a project tells the story of how it was made. This was shown throughout all of my projects this semester.
All of the projects I made throughout this semester were made with a similar technique. I began this semester still kind of new to the art of ceramics. I was still discovering my knitch and was still learning how to correctly perform all of the techniques. Throughout all of this i really learned that the biggest and most important part of making a good project is definitely structure. The structure of a project is the basis and background of a solid project. The shape and structure helps to allow the project to tell the story of how it was made. With this i made all of my projects starting with a cylinder. I then transform them into whatever i desire them to be. After this is when design and more creativity comes in. (making a lid, adding 3-dimension elements, or adding a handle.) This really goes to show that structure is the basis for all of this.
I used my creativity to show off the stucture of the project. When i say this i mean leaving throwing marks from the tools i use, therefor showing the story of how it was made, and leaving the marks of how the handles or other 3-dimensional elements were added to the project. For an example my hand n' wheel was a project where I left several small attachment marks where I had added the handle and penguin features. This allowed anyone who viewed the project to know how it was made. This was also present in ever project where I attached a handle including, my set of three, my teapot, and my heart mug. These were all projects where they tell a story of how ever part came together.
Overall My theme in ceramics involves structure- this is incorrpurated in my work by using the basic techniques to create projects that show how they are made by the shape and basic structure of themselves.
